The Ethiopians are coming … sooner even than expected

News this morning from their Uncle, Father Tesfamariam Baraki, tells that the Baraki Brothers are now booked on a flight to arrive in Washington this Thursday, September 6.

Deo gratias! An thanks also to the many benefactors whose charity by prayer & work has contributed to the project.

This effort of charity still needs generous donations of prayer, work and alms. Please use the “DONATE” link in the blog header, or click here to contribute your alms. http://national-coalition.org/#gift

E-mail the Coordinator of this mission, Patrick Elms, to volunteer to help: the Baraki Brothers are in urgent need of lodging and will need rides to hospitals in the District of Columbia metropolitan region — including a person with managerial skills & holy patience to coordinate and to schedule the multiple itineraries: of hospital, dialysis clinic, personal physicians and family.

These Boys need your charity. Please be generous. http://national-coalition.org/#gift

Here follows an exchange of the project’s coordinator, Patrick Elms, and Dr. Akeza Teame, the Medical Director of St. Yared Hospital.

We beg all benefactors and men of good will please to pray God to fulfill all the noble intentions of Dr. Teame, without whose excellent professionalism and generous compassion the Baraki Brothers could simply not have this long survived.

Dear Mr. Elms,

Thank you for your consideration if our pitental future needs. The reservation has been already made and we can always approach Ethiopian Airlines for free tickets for other patents when such a need arises. Let’s just go ahead with the current arrangement for Assefa. Fr. Baraki could call me regarding other related issues and ticket pick-ups etc.

Again, it has been a real pleasure working with both of you on this particular project and I can’t thank enough all those involved for their unparalleled humanitarian/Christian work.

Best regards,

Dr. Teame,

I apologize as I did not see this e-mail. I have read the one sent today, Friday August 31, about the wonderful charity, Sheba, frequent flyer corporate account. And as I said in my reply to that e-mail we are so thankful. Shall we also wait to see what Ethiopian Airlines will do?

So we await in hope with you for a favorable reply from Ethiopian Airlines as it would be good to save the Sheba [corporate account frequent flyer] miles for other patients if EA grants our request.

Thank you so much,

The boys are ready to go anytime. So the flight dates would be to depart Addis as soon as possible that is most convenient to Ethiopian Airlines can send them. To arrive in Washington DC, most likely the airport named Washington Dulles (IAD).

The date of the return flights depends on what the doctors here say but its safe to assume it will be about at least 90 days as the doctors informed us.

Here is their info. Please delete it after you use it to safeguard their info, and to ask others to do so also.

Thank you so very much!

Again, accept our poor prayers for your dear friends, especially the Patriarch.

Dear Dr. Teame

Could you please contact me today and let me know what is happening with Ethiopian Airlines. Please explain to them that everything is ready now, they have their visas, the doctors await their immediate arrival in the USA. Right now the longer we wait the worse it is for Assefa. And the more money spent for dialysis in Addis pushes family & the NCCL charity further into debt. Instead, the sooner he is here we have pro bono dialysis for him and then our going further in debt would be limited to money spent for their stay here in the USA.

PLEASE, I ask if they can speed the process up and let us know.

Also, I have their passport info and can give it to you for Ethiopian Airlines, so they can go ahead and book the tickets.

In great hope I wait to hear from you today.

I am respectfully yours,

Dear Dr. Teame,

we have spoken before by phone and emailed about Assefa Baraki, the patient and hoped for kidney transplant candidate. I write with extreme urgency as everything is now in place, with GUH here, and the ministry of health and U.S. Consulate in Addis and the visas are ready too.

We are now pleading with Ethiopian Airlines to donate the two roundtrip tickets for Assefa and his borther donor as we simply cannot afford the tickets and are in debt already for care we have funded.

The managers here in the USA, one being a medical Sister who knows you, Sister Selba, explained that it was the best chance if you contacted Ethiopian Airlines there to offer my request to them. So I ask if you would please contact them.

I have included below the donation request emails I sent to managers here in the USA and in Ethiopia so that you may reference them when speaking with Esete at Ethiopian Airlines in Addis.

With sincere thanks and respect for your skills as a physician but more importantly your compassion and kindness, I have the honor to remain

Respectfully yours,
Patrick Elms
