In order more faithfully to convey the meaning His Beatitude gave to his testament when citing from sacred Scripture, we hereby republish Spiritual Testament, this time inserting verses & passages taken from the Douay Rheims edition of the Bible published online at http://drbo.org/ .
The decision to substitute the scriptural phrases & passages quoted in the 1984, printed English edition (which used The New American Bible, St. Joseph’s Edition) with the corresponding phrases & passages of the Douay Rheims Catholic Bible serves more than stylistic purpose. It serves truth-telling. Patriarch Josyf’s soul and learning and doctrines are steeped in the tradition of Christ: which is to say, they are infused with or quickened by His very Spirit, the Spirit of the Son of God Himself.
To the extent newer translations depart from or block interpenetration of the same Spirit, the editor of the new online edition, (G. P. Lloyd, La Salle University) presents the older, undeniably stabler translation. That is, for the sake of authenticity: for exactitude of conveying Patriarch Josyf’s meaning more clearly in the English language.

The editor of the online edition of the Testament gratefully recognizes herewith the generous, painstaking assistance of graduate student Yurko Didula of La Salle University for his work on the updated online edition, in which he substituted the Douay-Rheims English verses & passages of the bible for the The New American Bible, St. Joseph’s Edition used in the 1984 printed edition.
